Jenny Umhofer, M.F.A.
Owner & Founder of Colledge
Jenny Umhofer is the owner and founder of Colledge. A graduate of UCLA, Ms. Umhofer has been in college admissions since 1996. She began her career in the UCLA School of the Arts and Architecture, where she reviewed thousands of college applications and recruited the nation’s top young artists. Ms. Umhofer also served as the assistant director of college admissions at Caltech, overseeing the review of highly selective math, science and engineering applications and she was the associate director of college admissions at Scripps College as well. Ms. Umhofer has been active in the National Association for College Admission Counseling, on the board of the Western Association of College Admissions Counseling and is an Associate Member of the Independent Educational Consultants Association. She has made presentations on college admissions at numerous conferences and countless schools. She was also a member of the national Coca Cola Scholarship reading committee for three years.
Associations & Honors
Arman Davtyan, Ed.D.
Arman Davtyan brings more than a dozen years of experience in selective college and university admissions, having served on admission committees at Occidental College, UCLA School of Law, and USC School of Education. Through his extensive work recruiting, counseling, and evaluating admission candidates, coupled with the thousands of applications he has reviewed over the years, Arman has gained in-depth perspective on the attributes, qualifications, and strategies that lead to successful admission outcomes. These direct insights allow him to provide meaningful guidance to students and families, in support of their post-secondary educational endeavors. After completing his bachelor’s degree at Occidental College, Arman went on to earn graduate degrees at the University of Maryland and UCLA.
Jeff Teng has worked in higher education for over 11 years. His career began at the University of Southern California as a Financial Aid Counselor. Jeff also obtained his Masters in Education at the USC Rossier School of Education. During his Masters program, Jeff realized that he wanted a position where he could work more closely with students and develop a deeper connection. He then joined USC’s Viterbi School of Engineering Admissions and Student Affairs Office as an Academic Advisor where he guided first-year students with their transition into college. Jeff earned his undergraduate degree at UC Berkeley and speaks fluent Mandarin Chinese.
Jessica Pashkow has been in the college admission and counseling profession for over fifteen years. She has worked both as Senior Assistant Director of Admission at University of Southern California and as a college counselor at multiple private Los Angeles high schools, including Milken Community High School and Yeshiva of Los Angeles Girls High School. She has reviewed and evaluated thousands of applications for both UCLA and USC. When not counseling students and their families, she can be found playing a mean game of tennis, cooking and/or baking anything and everything, filling the sidewalk in front of her family’s house with fanciful chalk drawings (with the help of her two daughters Mirabelle & Juliette), or playing with her dogs Hawkins & Hamilton.
Seth Stewart has been a higher education professional for over 10 years, when he began counseling aspiring artists, musicians, actors, and designers as an admissions representative for both the California Institute of the Arts and Art Center College of Design. He went on to recruit and admit undergraduate and graduate students as the Associate Director of Admissions for Clark University, and has worked closely with the admissions committee for his alma mater, Oberlin College. Seth holds a master’s degree in film, a second in critical writing, and has taught both creative and essay writing classes and workshops to high school and college students. A published author and former speech writer for the president of USC, Seth uses his extensive admissions expertise and knack for storytelling to help students discover the next chapter of their educational journey.
James Hayashi, M.P.W.
James Hayashi has over a decade of experience helping students with college admissions, especially in crafting personal statements and in test preparation. He earned his Master of Professional Writing (MPW) in creative non-fiction from the University of Southern California, where he works as a writing advisor in the School of Education. In this capacity, James helps his students not only to construct strong papers, but also to develop writing skills and strategies necessary for future academic success. His background as a writer, instructor, and college admissions consultant provide James insight into showcasing an applicant’s unique character in a personal statement.
Lee Ann Cornell
Lee Ann Cornell has over seven years of experience working as Director of Admissions at several California colleges. She also brings experience in student orientation, academic advising, and student leadership programs. Lee Ann earned a master’s degree from UCLA in Counseling in Student Affairs and a doctorate in educational leadership from the University of Southern California.
